New Programs at MCF (Spring 2013)

Social Skills Group

A program specifically designed to meet the unique needs of our local teens and young adults with autism.

Weekly community outings to local landmarks, hikes in the local area, restaurants, movies, community centers and more are held as a means to
practice and generate newly acquired skills.

Our objective is to provide the participant with the following:
- An enjoyable and educational social setting where friendships can be developed and practiced.
- Increased awareness and knowledge of social skills limitations.
- Improved ability to initiate, interpret and respond to the verbal and non-verbal social cues used in various settings in the community to avoid unexpected behaviors.
- Improved knowledge about personal hygiene and self-care.

Our Cats

Our cats came from the grandfather of Kenny Meadows, owner of Meadow's Service Center.  He took great care of his barn cats and they quickly made themselves at home on the farm.  Each day, she greets the MCF workers and follows them around farm as they complete the routines.

Ladybug

Ladybug is full of energy and loves to hunt daily on the farm.  She takes care of any mice that may be searching for a way into our feed bins.  She plays the role of a barn cat but if she had her way, she would be an indoor cat!   She spends her day on top of the barn and makes her way down for feeding time.

 Ms. Grumpy (-2012)

Ms. Grumpy was a great addition to the MCF family.  When she arrived at the farm, she was very comfortable staying in the barn away from all.  After many heart to heart sessions to win over her love, she gave in and spent her days relaxing on the farm.  We lost Ms. Grumpy as she curled up by the door and fell asleep peacefully.  We celebrate her life knowing that she is now joined with her previous care taker.
